Sunday Tribune: Call for action on jail overcrowding

The Irish Penal Reform Trust has said the government must act on overcrowding and unsanitary conditions inside jails.

The trust said last week's report from the inspector of prisons outlined horrific conditions. It said justice minister Dermot Ahern needed to commit himself to addressing the desperate conditions inside overcrowded jails.
