TV3 MidWeek: Conditions in Mountjoy Prison

26th May 2010

John Lonergan, who announced his early retirement as governor of Mountjoy Prison recently, was the guest on Wednesday's edition of TV3's MidWeek.

Paul Mckay, former member of the Mountjoy Visiting Committee, who aired his grievances about Mountjoy Prison before a meeting of the Justice Committee recently, was also on the programme to speak about the issue.

MidWeek also spoke to IPRT's Liam Herrick, who argued that the 2,200-space Thornton Hall was a move that was out-of-step with thinking in most other European countries, who were moving away from penal expansion.
