TV3 Midweek: Imprisonment for Dog Licence Fine

29th June 2011

TV3 Midweek_LiamHerrick_29062011With 6,681 people imprisoned for non-payment of court-ordered fines in 2010, and delays in full implementation of the Fines Act 2010 due to the inability of the Courts Service ICT system to process payments by instalment, the issue of imprisonment for fines continues to be a serious waste of resources.

TV3's 'Midweek' interviewed a man imprisoned for non-payment of a dog licence fine about his experience. IPRT's Liam Herrick was in studio to respond, along with court reporter Dyane Connor.
