Latest inspection report on Children Detention Schools published

29th May 2013

HIQA has published its latest inspection report on the three Children Detention Schools at Oberstown, Lusk, Co. Dublin. It found positive improvements, particularly in relating to a decline in the use of single separation, but some issues remain relating to:

  • the suitability of 'protection rooms'
  • the formal supervision of managers
  • compliance with fire safety regulations

Access the report of the inspection carried out 18/19 December 2012 here

IPRT highlighted some of the main issues identified during the previous inspection (21-30 Nov 2011) here.
