The Prison Reform Trust and Prisoners Education Trust have launched a joint report called 'Through the Gateway: How Computers Can Transform Rehabilitation'. The joint report argues that controlled internet access can improve prisoners' outcomes in education, family contact and resettlement between prisons and recidivism.
The report looks to the use of technology, especially information and communication technology, in prisons as a tool for rehabilitation. The methodology underpinning the report includes a survey of prisons sent to all prison directors and governors across England and Wales supported by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), a focus group of prisoners’ families, visits to prisoners and prisons, and roundtable discussions among experts.
