Just a short 'newsflash' edition of the ebulletin this month, with an official 'save the date' notice for Tuesday 12th May 2015, when we will launch our new 'Turnaround Youth' Report - this is the first in a series of events and activities, in which we are making the case for a distinct approach for 18-24s who come into contact with the criminal justice system. We really hope you will join us for what we believe is a very exciting new strand to our solutions-focused work.

Young adult offenders ~ the case for a distinct approach
IPRT is delighted to announce that the launch of our Turnaround Youth Project and Report will take place on Tuesday 12th May 2015 in the Irish Film Institute, Dublin 2.
This report presents the case for the differential treatment of 18-24 year-olds who come in contact with the criminal justice system, and is grounded in emerging evidence, best practice, and informed by input from young people with experience of the issues.
Venue: Irish Film Institute, Eustace St, Dublin 2 (Temple Bar)
Date: Tues 12th May 2015
Time: 10.30-12.00 followed by tea, coffee and pastries

IPRT is delighted to be part of the Hands Up for Children campaign, which believes that smart investment in children is the best way to secure Ireland’s future. The campaign aims to ensure that Prevention and Early Intervention is included as a priority in the next programme for government.
In particular, the campaign is calling for an increased investment in prevention and early intervention for children and families, and a commitment to gradually realigning resources from crisis driven interventions to preventative ones. It is cost effective to intervene early. Prevention is better than cure.
Hands Up for Children is an initiative of the Prevention and Early Intervention Network (of which IPRT is a member) and all interested organisations and individuals can sign up as campaign partners and supporters. Follow the campaign on twitter: https://twitter.com/Handup4children

5th May 2015: Le Chéile Strategy Launch
Le Chéile will launch their new strategy, 'Inspiring Change, Transforming Lives' in the Printworks, Dublin Castle at 4.30pm on Tuesday, 5th May 2015. Minister for Justice and Equality, Frances Fitzgerald, T.D. will officially launch the strategy at the event, which also marks Le Chéile's 10th anniversary of working with young people who offend and their families.
