Pilot Parenting Programme in Limerick Prison

On Tuesday 6th October, 2015, the Sean O’Rourke Show on RTE Radio 1 presented a feature on ‘Parenting in Prison’.  It described a new parenting programme being piloted in Limerick prison.  The programme seeks to support individuals in prison and their family in the community.  It does this through parenting courses, family visits and on-going support post-release.  One statistic mentioned in the radio programme is that the re-offending rate within the first three years after release from prison is 62.3%.  The presenter explains that this statistic served as a driving force for change.  Follow the link here to listen to the programme.  It begins at 1.46.
