Newstalk, Séan Moncrieff Show: Mental Health Issues in Irish Prisons

25th July 2017

Ireland’s second examination under the UN Convention against Torture will take place on 27th and 28th July 2017. IPRT made a Submission to the United Nations Committee against Torture (UNCAT) in advance, and will be bringing a number of serious concerns to the attention of the Committee in Geneva.

IPRT’s Acting Executive Director Fíona Ní Chinnéide spoke to Sean Moncrieff about the topic of mental health issues in Irish prisons. The discussion was wide-ranging, and also included health care in Irish prisons, and the use of solitary confinement.

Listen to the interview 'No help behind bars: treating mentally ill prisoners', Tuesday 25th July 2017 here.
