IPRT, with the help of our supporters, has campaigned tirelessly for many years for people to be able to move on from their convictions after their punishment has been served and a period of time has passed. We welcomed the passing of the Criminal Justice (Spent Convictions and Certain Disclosures) Act 2016, but it was only a small step towards breaking the stigma and providing better opportunities for reintegration and rehabilitation.
A new law has been proposed, which would give fairer and broader access to spent convictions. We now have the opportunity to continue our campaign to remove the barrier that having a conviction can pose for a greater number of people. As part of this work, we need the voices of our supporters.
If you have a criminal conviction, please take 3 minutes to complete our short survey and help us show the impact that having a convictions history can have.
