Irish Penal Reform Trust

Research Centre

IPRT’s advocacy work is underscored by research and evidence-led policies. One of our key objectives has been to develop a coherent and comprehensive base of research and policy documents that enable IPRT to provide evidence-based responses to issues relating to penal reform and wider criminal justice issues.

Our primary policy positions are set out in a series of Position Papers. Our positions on other topical penal issues are set out in shorter Briefing Papers which are regularly updated. IPRT also makes a wide range of Submissions to a variety of national and international bodies. Also included in this section are presentations made by IPRT to various fora and research and policy sources from other bodies.

All publications are available for download from the Library section of IPRT’s website.

Our work is supported by

Respect for rights in the penal system with prison as a last resort.
