Irish Penal Reform Trust

Summer and Autumn Internship Opportunities

6th April 2018

The Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) is Ireland's leading non-governmental organisation campaigning for the respect of human rights in the penal system, and for imprisonment to be used only as a last resort. We publish a wide range of policy and research documents; we campaign vigorously across a wide range of penal policy issues; and we are the leading independent voice in public debate on the Irish penal system.

We are now inviting applications for the summer Policy & Advocacy internship placement (working 4 days per week June-August), and for two autumn Policy & Advocacy internship placements (working September 2018 – January 2019 on a part-time basis of 2.5 - 3 days per week).

Exciting projects we are currently working on include: year 2 of rights in prison project Progress in the Penal System (PIPS), and an exciting new project Addressing the Over-Representation of Children in Care in the Criminal Justice System.

Interns work as an integral part of the IPRT team, supporting our policy, research, advocacy and communications activities. Internships are unpaid, and unfortunately IPRT is not in a position to contribute to interns’ costs of living or travel.

Application Process

The deadline for applications was Friday 20th April 2018 @ 5pm. The application process is now closed.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited for interview, which is expected to take place on Wednesday 2nd May. All applicants will be kept informed of the outcome of their application.

Completed application forms should be sent, with a recent CV, to: info@iprt.ie
