Prison-based syringe exchange programmes: a review of international research and development

A review of the development and operation of 19 prison-based syringe-exchange programmes in Switzerland, Germany and Spain.

Overall, this review indicated that prison syringe exchange programmes are feasible and do provide benefit in the reduction of risk behaviour and the transmission of blood-borne infection without any unintended negative consequences.
