Census of Prison Population, Cell Occupancy and In Cell Sanitation July 2014

The Irish Prison Service's July Report deals with facts and figures relating to prison population, cell occupancy and cell sanitation in the Irish penal estate.

In July 2014 the Irish prison population stood at 4,003 prisoners. Of these prisoners less than 50% of prisoners were accommodated in single cells, while the other half of the prison population continue to share prison cells. 

330 prisoner are still required to slop out.
