Committee for the Prevention of Torture: 2006 Visit

Concern at levels of violence, a pervasive drug and gang culture, insufficient psychiatric facilities and drug treatment programmes, alarming over-crowding and a poor prison regime for many of the State's prisoners: these are the findings of the 2006 visit by the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).
