Committee for the Prevention of Torture: 2006 Visit

31st January 2008

Concern at levels of violence, a pervasive drug and gang culture, insufficient psychiatric facilities and drug treatment programmes, alarming over-crowding and a poor prison regime for many of the State's prisoners: these are the findings of the 2006 visit by the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT).

The resources below provide the relevant information and the IPRT submission which outlined our areas of particular concern.
