Tragic Death of Ahmed Othmani, Chairperson of Penal Reform International

Penal Reform International announces with enormous sadness the sudden death of our Chairperson, Ahmed Othmani.

Ahmed was killed in a car accident in Rabat, Morocco, on 8 December where he was promoting human rights. He died on duty.

Ahmed was a great human rights activist, a wonderful human being and an incomparable friend. We shall miss his passion for the cause, undimmed energy and deep commitment to making the world a better place. We are all poorer for his loss.

Our thoughts are with his wife Simone and son Yacine at this time.
