RTÉ 1 Arena: 'The Old Triangle' at the Abbey Theatre

21st February 2012

On Sunday February 26th a host of Irish writers and musicians gathered at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin to celebrate the work of IPRT and raise awareness of the realities of prison life and the wider social justice issues behind prison among a new audience.

In advance of the event, Evelyn O'Rourke of RTÉ Radio 1's 'Arena' spoke to hosts of the evening, Paula Meehan and Theo Dorgan, about the event and also more generally about Irish artists' commitment to social justice and to highlighting the realities of more marginalised people and communities. Poet Tony Curtis and singer-songwriter Shaz Oye also performed.

It is a wonderful and important piece, and well worth a listen! You can access it here.

For more information about the event itself, including photos and a short video clip, see here.
