Oireachtas Justice Committee, submissions on 'Community Courts' & Seanad Debate

26th February 2014

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality, has included all submissions, written and oral, in relation to a proposed pilot Community Court in Dublin. Included are speeches to the Committee by staff of the Center for Court Innovation, an organisation that spearheaded the Community Court concept in Manhattan. In addition, the Minister responds to the oral submissions in the final 3 three pages of the submissions document.

The proposal to create a pilot Community Court in Dublin was subsequently approved by cabinet and by the Seanad (debate available below).

Finally, the IPRT also made a submission in favour of the establishment of a Community Court in Dublin. This is available by clicking on the 'Word' icon to the top-left of this article.
