Mr. Curran asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the amount of money spent by his Department or the Office of Public Works on behalf of his Department on an option to buy a site at Newlands Cross, Dublin 22 for a proposed juvenile detention centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28825/03]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. McDowell): The total expenditure associated with the purchase of an option to buy the site in question, at Newlands Cross, Dublin 22, for a proposed juvenile detention centre was €266,666.36.
