24th September 2009
The Report on an Inspection of Mountjoy Prison by the Inspector of Prisons was published by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform on 24th Sept 2009.
The report highlights the "inhuman and degrading treatement" in Ireland's largest and most consistently overcrowded prison. H
However, the report is fair towards prison staff and prison management who, it is acknowledged, are working under impossible conditions due to chronic overcrowding.
