Round-up: IPRT Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025
24th September 2025
The 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Irish Penal Reform Trust (IPRT) took place in-person in Dublin on Wednesday 24 September 2024. At the AGM, reports on activities and developments during 2024 were presented to members in attendance by Chairperson Derval MacDonagh and Executive Director Saoirse Brady. Treasurer Noel Maloney gave a financial report for the year ended 31 December 2024. The IPRT Annual Report - Directors' Report and Audited Financial Statements for the financial year ended 31 December 2024 was launched at the AGM.
Board Elections:
In line with IPRT’s governance procedures, one-third of Board members retired by rotation at this year’s AGM and stood for re-election. Ashling Golden, Derval MacDonagh, Noel Moloney, and Lisa Cuthbert were each re-elected for a second term. Members also approved the appointment of two new Board members, Juracy Antunes and Paula Kearney, who bring valuable expertise and fresh perspectives to the organisation. The Chair noted that the Board is continuing its recruitment process to appoint an additional member with legal expertise, further strengthening IPRT’s governance and capacity.
Prison members' voices
The annual IPRT prisoner survey provides an opportunity to hear directly from members in prison about the issues that matter most to them and to collect data that can inform advocacy. In the lead-up to the event, IPRT members in prison were asked to share their thoughts and experiences of the last year. An overview of the general themes and issues raised were presented by IPRT's Policy and Research Coordinator, Tom Lord, to give a voice to IPRT members in prison as part of the event. Some details of the results will be made public in due course.
While most of IPRT's events are open to the public, our AGM is open only to our membership. If you would like to become a member, you can click here, email info@iprt.ie or call us on 01 874 1400.
