8. The daily average number of female offenders in custody rose by 14% in the ten-year period between 2012 and 2022

The daily average number of female offenders in custody rose by 29% in the ten year period between 2006 and 2016. 

From 1996 to 2017, the numbers in custody increased by 68% (2,191 to 3,680).

From 1996 to 2016, the numbers in custody increased by almost 70% (2,191 to 3,718).
