Irish Prison Service Annual Report 2001

31st December 2002

2001 was another challenging year for the Irish Prison Service - but 2001 was also a year of further improvements in prison conditions, most notably in bringing new accommodation into use in the Midlands Prison and improvements in drug treatment and provision of drug-free accommodation. Notwithstanding these and other improvements, there is still much to be done to bring many of our prisons and places of detention up to acceptable, modern-day
standards.
