Prison Law Seminar: Parole Reform and the ECHR

The latest in the IPRT Prison Law Seminar Series took place on Monday, 22nd October at Distillery Building on the topic of Parole Reform and the ECHR. At the event, IPRT launched a new and comprehensive Position Paper on reform of parole, temporary release and remission.
Speakers at the event were:
- Mr. Tony Kelly, leading Scottish human rights and prison law solicitor, who has used the ECHR to challenge the parole process in Scotland
- James Mehigan BL, whose practice focuses on criminal defence, extradition and prison law as well as other areas of public and human rights law as they relate to the criminal justice system.
- Michelle Martyn, IPRT Research and Policy Officer.

The seminar qualified for Continuing Professional Development (1.5 hours) for both solicitors and barristers.
